Penn State football made two coaching staff hires and one retention official for Matt Campbell’s first staff on Tuesday. Former UCLA defensive coordinator Ikaika Malloe will be the Lions’ new defensive line coach.

Tyson Veidt previously coached with Matt Campbell at Iowa State for eight seasons. He was at Cincinnati last year. Ikaika Malloe spent the last four seasons at UCLA.

Connor will serve as assistant linebackers coach to Tyson Veidt, who joins Campbell's coaching staff after spending the past two seasons as Cincinnati's defensive coordinator. Veidt is the latest addition to a Penn State staff that still is without a publicly named running backs coach.

Penn State currently has 46 members of its 2025 roster in the NCAA transfer portal. As of 7:45 p.m. ET, a few have already found their next school. The most recent former Nittany Lion to pick his new home is defensive end Zuriah Fisher.
